A Direct Line to God
I talked to God the other day.
He said capital punishment is against His wishes.
"Thou shalt not kill" means "Thou shalt not kill."
And, yes, He did make those little fishes.

I talked to God the other day.
He said abortion is another thing again.
Since the fetus is merely potentiality,
You can't say with any finality
That it's a human fatality.
And He doesn't really have anything against witches.

I talked to God the other day.
He said "under God" in the pledge is a trifle premature.
If we're good, and try to get along with the rest of the world,
He might offer His blessing, but He wasn't too sure.
And then He hung up.
That Guy can really keep you in stitches.

Free  Will
Free will is a bunch of bull.
There was this Big Bang,
One thing led to another,
And here you are
Reading this dumb poem.

Two Little Words
(with apologies to Bert Kalmar)
Two little words.
They cause dissension,
Those two little words.
     I mean it.

Two little words.
Teachers: Please don’t mention
Those two little words,
     Because they...

Shouldn’t be forced
On little school kids.
That’s not education,
That’s indoctrination.

Two little words,
Eight little letters
That simply say, “under God.”
